Troubles in the Asian Games
The Hong Kong bid for the Asian games looks like it would fall before the plan got off the ground after many major legislative council party's stated that they would not support the bid. The plan would be that if Hong Kong were to get the bid for the Asian games, Many of Hong Kong's sports faculties would be upgraded to handle the thousands of spectators, the plan is also said to boost sporting in Hong Kong. However the price for holding the event is costly, HKD$14 billion dollars is the estimate but that figure does not include the billions of dollars to build a a "Sports City" in the old Kai Tak airport. The government says that in the end, this will be a money losing event, so, whats the point? If they say that it would promote sports in the city, their wrong, because who would think of Hong Kong as a sporty city. This event must also be to promote exercise and being sporty in the city along with the campaigns to make us eat healthy as well. A short Government advert on the TV once or twice is okay, But 14 billion dollars to simply try to tell us to keep fit is just to much.
